What To Do When the Inevitable Spills Happen During Your Holiday Party:

What To Do When the Inevitable Spills Happen During Your Holiday Party:When you’re in holiday party mode, you won’t likely be thinking about being careful with your food and drinks. This means, spills will happen and you should be prepared for them.

We recommend making a ‘spills preparedness’ box full of the products you need for a quick and easy clean as well as a little note card with instructions on how to best use them.
What should go into your spills box? Simple. Always go with organic based products and ones with a good standing. We’ll share ours with you today because we stand behind their quality, performance and reputation. But you decide what’s best for you!

We suggest starting with Bayes Fabric Protectant as a preventative step. It’s safe to use indoors, yet provides maximum protection under extreme outdoor conditions and contains a special advanced polymer designed to repel both oil and water-borne stains from fabric. This is important in household environments where both water-borne stains (fruit juice, wine, soft drinks) and oil-borne stains (margarine, mayonnaise, ice cream) are present. Commonly used silicone based repellents are effective only against water-borne stains.

As far as building your box, the first few things you’ll want to include in it are things like a spray bottle with just water, in case water is called for. Next, you’ll want a terri cloth, 2 cotton towels for wet and drying needs and sponge.

Next, is you’ll want to have a bottle of The Wine Stomper Red Wine Stain Remover. It quickly removes red wine, juice, blood, and other dark stains from clothing, table linen, carpets and upholstery. Packaged in a handy spray bottle for instant use wherever spills occur. Simply spray soiled area, wait a few minutes, and blot clean.

Lastly, be sure to include our Bayes All Purpose Cleaning Solution for all your cleaning needs, from countertops to fixtures (because messes can show up in the most random places! It’s an earth-friendly formula that makes an easy clean for the dirtiest of household surfaces. Cleans and shines glass, chrome, tile work, wall, countertops and more. Will not harm natural stone, stainless steel, or enamel. Ph neutral and safe for use on food preparation surfaces.

At Bayes, we pride ourselves on our commitment to taking care of the environment as well as your own health. This shouldn’t change with the seasons or need. So please, celebrate, party and rejoice…. and let Bayes handle the dirty work!

Boost Your Immune System This Winter In a Surprising and Natural Way! [you’ll love it]

Boost Your Immune System This Winter In a Surprising and Natural Way! [you’ll love it]Winter can do a real number on our health. We are all geared up to celebrate holidays and play in the snow, when out of nowhere, a bug will hit and there go our plans. (and it’s not like you can reschedule Christmas or New Years, right??)
Well we at Bayes, are all about keeping you healthy, so we’re going to help you out.
First of all.
Ginger. Eat it. Drink it. Diffuse it. Just get it into your life as much as possible! Not only does it boost the immune system, but if you happen to get struck with a headache or ill feeling, ginger comes to the rescue!
The truth is, ginger is anti-inflammatory, which makes it a valuable tool for pain relief. In 2001, research showed that ginger oil helped reduce knee pain in people with osteoarthritis. There was a study done where women athletes taking three grams of ginger or cinnamon daily (that's less than one teaspoon) had a significant decrease in muscle soreness.

Ginger has even been found to be as effective as ibuprofen in relieving pain from menstrual cramps in women. The pain-relieving potential of ginger seems to be so far reaching and we are only just beginning to understand it.  Along with help for muscle and joint pain, ginger has been found to reduce the severity of migraine headaches as well as some of the more well known migraine medications. Just mince a little of it up, mix with honey and swallow, or add to tea. It’s such a simple remedy!

Lastly, don’t make it worse! What do most people do on a regular basis that’s compromises the immune system? They flood their bodies with toxins.

Now, we aren’t interested in overwhelming you with too much, but here are some simple ways to reduce the toxins around and inside you so that you don’t make it worse.

Inside the body: Stay away from refined sugars. Sugar is like putting your defenses down and inviting illness to attack your vulnerability. Drink lots of water. Hydration flushes toxins. Eat your veggies. It’s true. The only wive’s tales actually have substance to them. Veggies feed your blood and body systems.

Outside the body: Sleep well. Get the hours you need so your body has the energy to defend itself. Dress Warmly. Let your body focus on being strong, not staying warm. Clean with non-toxic, organic cleaners. Regular cleaners have ingredients that attack your lungs and skin. The skin absorbs what’s on it and the liver has to process it. Do you want your liver busy processing toxic chemicals or supporting your endocrine system? Stay away from traditional candles and air fresheners. Most are filled with carcinogens and pollutants to your home (and lungs again.)

The best way to stay healthy is to live healthy. This may mean big or small lifestyle changes for you. But aren’t they worth it?

Aren’t you worth it?

Are You About to Clean Up Your Holiday Messes With Chemicals Toxic to Your Health?

Are You About to Clean Up Your Holiday Messes With Chemicals Toxic to Your Health? The holidays are here and as fun as they promise to be, there’s likely to be a big mess that follows. But not only do you want to be spending quality time with your family, you don’t want to waste it scrubbing spills and buildup while breathing in harsh and toxic chemicals.
You may not know it but there are many dangerous poisons lurking in some of your most commonly used household items. In America, we consume so many products without ever knowing what the real ingredients are.
Below, is a quick list of the most common places you’ll find toxic ingredients. Then at the end, we’ll share with you some better, safer and much healthier options that you can use in confidence.

Room Air Fresheners

I never allow artificial air fresheners in my home. Anything you breathe in eventually ends up in your bloodstream. Plug-in scents or synthetically scented candles many contain chemicals called phthalates, which have been linked to reproductive problems. Instead, choose candles made with essential oils and fresh flowers to scent your home. Also,  try using baking soda and white vinegar as odor absorbers.

Perfumes and Fragrances

The one-word ingredient “perfume” can translate to a product containing upwards of 300 chemical ingredients. (Perfume companies won’t release lists of exact ingredients for fear of divulging secrets to their competitors.) Avoid perfumes and colognes or switch to products that are scented with natural oils.

Fabric and Upholstery Sprays

Stain blockers essentially create an invisible plastic barrier over your furniture. This plastic will eventually wear off and be released into your home environment. Instead, simply clean stains as necessary rather than trying to prevent them.

Kitchen Cleaning products

Check the labels of cleaning products for chemical ingredients such as phthalates and chemical surfactants. These ingredients are not only dangerous to your home, but to your skin and lungs too!

Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season with These Natural and Delicious Tips

Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season with These Natural and Delicious TipsIt’s hard to stay healthy during the holidays with all the sweets and treats around. But one way to make more good choices is by starting your day with them. If you start your day healthy, you feel good and when you feel good, you want to do more things to keep feeling good.
One way to do this is through the power of the green smoothie. We work hard to keep our homes clean, but it’s important to be just as devoted to keeping our bodies clean and strong.
Green smoothies are surprisingly easy to make, delicious and come with tons of benefits. Don’t know the benefits? Here are just a few:
More energy.  If you start the day with a green smoothie you will notice a massive increase in the amount of energy you have.

Weight loss.  Increasing the number of fruit and vegetables you eat in a day gives you body an opportunity to shed excess fat and water weight built up from toxins stored in the body.

Reduce junk food cravings: When you increase the amount of healthy foods in your diet and decrease the unhealthy foods you will naturally stop craving junk food and crave more of the same healthy food.  You may find yourself adding more fruit during the day when you start eating more healthily.
Better skin: The increased fluids and power of natural foods in your diet will hydrate your skin and reduce your wrinkles and improve acne problems making you look younger.
Boost immune system: Incorporating green smoothies into your diet will help boost your resistance to colds, flu and other bugs and feel generally amazing. After having a cold or the flu all winter long, I didn’t have a single bug for 3 years after introducing green smoothies to my diet.
Improve your digestion: enjoy the detox and get your intestines off to a flying start today. Chronic IBS has been known to clear up after these changes in diet occur.  One thing is for sure, a green smoothie is guaranteed to get everything moving in the morning.
One of the simplest ways to make a green smoothie is by putting the following base recipe into your favorite blender:
  • Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season with These Natural and Delicious Tips8-12 oz water
  • 1 cup of spinach

How to Boost Your Immune System in the Throes of Winter

How to Boost Your Immune System in the Throes of WinterWinter is a fun and beautiful time to enjoy. So don’t let germs and virus steel the joy away from you and your family. If you’re ready to resist pesky sickness and boost your immune system to super strength, you’re going to love these quick healthy tips!

Be Active!
Nothing boost the immune system like staying active. Get outside and go for a run! Hike. Swim indoors or do some yoga. The point is, keep moving. Remind your body of it's power.

Fire Tea!
This one’s simple, delicious and comes with many benefits on top of keeping you warm. Just pour yourself a mug of hot (not boiling) water. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into it. Add honey or stevia to taste. Then add cayenne pepper. How much you add is up to you, but you do want to be able to taste it. The combination will not only boost your immune system but will also help you stay warm, thanks to the cayenne increasing circulation all over your body.

Warm Feet!
Here’s a really easy one. Did you know that cayenne works on the skin too? Just grab your socks and carefully sprinkle it into the toe and foot part of your sock. The powdered pepper will be absorbed into your feet through your pores and keep your feet warm. Be warned, don’t put it in your gloves. You don’t want the pepper going from your fingers to your eyes. OUCH.

Sweat is Good!
Bring the heat in through your shower. Run a hot steamy shower and seal up the bathroom to keep in the heat. Then add a few sprays of a Eucalyptus Shower Mist into your shower. The Eucalyptus will help boost circulation (keeping your muscles warm internally), cleanse your respiratory system and if you go with the Eucamint, the mint will leave you extra invigorated and boost your energy.

Stay Warm!
Wear more layers. Yes, it’s that simple. Invest in a thin yet warm set of under layers to wear under your normal clothes. Then, lower the heat in your home. Keeping the heat to high adds too much contrast to your body temperature and stresses the immune system. Teach your body to acclimate rather that constantly be faced with shock.

Clean and Toxin Free!
Toxins in the air and in the home, enter our bodies through our pores and in through our lungs. To keep a strong immune system and fight the germs and viruses, keep toxins away from you and your family.  This means staying away from toxic air fresheners, bleach and other harsh chemicals as you keep your house clean, fresh and germ free. Make sure to open the doors and windows each day, even for ten minutes, to kick the stagnant air out and welcome the fresh air in.
Keeping the immune system strong in the winter isn’t as hard as you think. With the right nourishment, protection and non-toxic cleaning, your winter can be a healthy one.
