You might be surprised at the amount of germs and generally unclean material is on those fresh vegetables and fruits actually comes off when you simply rinse or rub them under running water. Whether or not you choose to buy organic produce, it’s still very important to wash them well before consuming them. Fertilizers, animals, and unhealthy soil and pollutants in the air can still contaminate your food. Then, once you've bought or picked your fruits and veggies, you bring them in the kitchen and excitedly place them on the counter, right? Then, all those nasty extras also end up on your counter!

Two-Ingredient Fruit and Vegetable Wash Recipe
Makes 2 cups
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup vinegar
Directions: Make a solution that is one part water and one part vinegar. Mix and then pour into an empty clean spray bottle. Spray on hard-surfaced fruits and vegetables and scrub lightly. Rinse thoroughly until the vinegar aroma is gone. For more delicate fruits and vegetables, pour the same 1:1 solution into a bowl. Add the berries, lettuce or whatever it may be and let sit for a few minutes. Rinse well before eating.
The next important thing to care for is those counters! They are where we are going to prepare our food (you don’t want new contaminates!) and it’s just as important to make sure those spaces are properly cleaned after you’ve made your meal, to ensure that any and all bacteria is quickly disposed of.
