How to Clean a Dirty Bathroom without Harsh Chemicals or Toxic Cleaning Supplies

How to Clean a Dirty Bathroom without Harsh Chemicals or Toxic Cleaning Supplies Nobody likes to have a dirty bathroom. Bathtub grime, pink rings and buildup is enough to make anyone want to run or grab a big bottle of bathroom cleaner with some serious super powers. Unfortunately, the super cleaners that most people go to are quite dangerous and toxic to both your skin and your lungs. That being said, Bayes has purposely created the ultimate alternative solution that’s the superhero of superhero cleaners, able to get the worst stains and buildup out of any bathroom.
The process of disinfecting something is to destroy microorganisms living on it. The problem is, the products that disinfect are often hazardous. We know you want to be sure your bathrooms are free of microbes; after all, some of them can cause illnesses. But don't panic. The fact is, germs and microbes are everywhere, and they'll be there whether you clean them out or not. You may toil and scrub, but they always come back. It's just a part of life.
Enough of the germ talk, let’s get to the solutions! First things first. Every person in the home should commit to keeping the living spaces and themselves at least moderately clean.
To make sure the bathroom doesn’t get layers of buildup, prevent the harder work with weekly maintenance. Once each week, lift the drain cover in your tub and use a cotton swab to remove any hair that might have accumulated there. Then pour 1/2 cup baking soda followed by 1 cup vinegar down the drain. Let this sit for 20 minutes, then flush the drain with very hot water. To help keep your tub drain unclogged, buy a plastic or rubber hair strainer; simply place it over your drain and let it do the dirty work for you.
Porcelain tubs and sinks can be among the trickiest for stain removal. Have you ever accidentally spilled an entire bottle of shampoo into your white tub and unwittingly let the mess sit there all day? That can certainly clean things up, but it's not really the recommended method. Instead, use Bayes Tub and Tile. It’s strong. It’s natural and incredibly hard working.

Quick Tips to Conquering Ants in the Kitchen - All Natural and Effective!

Quick Tips to Conquering Ants in the Kitchen - All Natural and Effective!Ants seem to be a problem in many homes and summer seems to be the worst. The ants are just as excited about the warmer weather, are looking to find any crumb possible and are bringing their friends. But there’s nothing more frustrating than waking up or coming home to an ant invasion in the kitchen!  You are ready to bomb the house of any possibility of the pests returning. However, those chemicals that kill and repel them are also dangerous for your own health. At Bayes, we know that and we want to share with you our top quick tips to conquering ants in your kitchen that are natural, organic and effective!

First of all, it’s important to know that ants are only able to navigate their way to food using the sense of smell in their antennae. Use strong smells to confuse their inner compass and they won’t be able to find their way to you so easily!

Cinnamon and Garlic. Place cinnamon sticks or garlic at their points of entry; this will take some investigating, but usually they enter at window tracks, by doors, sometimes floor vents and in corners around your home. It’s true that garlic cloves aren’t as aromatically pleasing as cinnamon sticks, they work really well. Just peel and slice a few cloves and place them where you notice the ants.

Clove and Peppermint/Rosemary.  Similar to the above. Get essential oils of clove and peppermint or rosemary, depending on the combination you prefer. Place about 20 drops of each in a spray bottle with just a little fractionated coconut oil and then about 6 TBSP of water. Shake and spray at points of entry. Alternatively, place a few drops of each oil near entry points for extra measure.

Black Pepper. Sprinkle black pepper where you see ants. The ants will immediately scatter. Pay attention to where they run; chances are they will be exiting your house and you’ll be able to treat the entry area with pepper too.

Remember to avoid the possibility of ants. Keep your kitchen clean and keep all food scraps and wrappers rinsed and in their proper containers immediately. Rinse dishes as soon as they are dirty and make sure to sweep up any crumbs as soon as you notice them or are done in the kitchen.

Cleaning Tips for Less Stress and More Flow in Your Day

Cleaning Tips for Less Stress and More Flow in Your DayWe all want to have a clean house. Whether it's to get ready for company or simply to feel at peace in our living space, keeping a clean house is high on the priority list. However, this can be quite daunting as the expectations from others and ourselves can feel like a lot of pressure. While you do deserve to have a clean house, it's also important not to loose your sanity in the process. From us to you, we'd like to share a few cleaning tips for less stress and more flow to your day.
Who are you cleaning for?
Not many are clued into this but it's important to say it. Make sure you're cleaning because you want it that way. So much stress happens as we as a culture, clean to meet the expectations of others. While it's important to clean, it's more important that you're doing it out of desire, rather than out of needing to please others.
One thing at a time.
This first step is the simplest and best way to start reducing your stress, and you can start immediately. Clear your desk  or list of things to do that can distract you. Pick one thing to work on. Do only that. Remove distractions such as phones and email notifications while you’re working on that project. If you’re going to do email, do only that. This takes practice, and you’ll get urges to do other things. Just keep practicing and you’ll get better at it.
Simplify your time
A hectic schedule is a major cause of high stress. Simplify by reducing the number of commitments in your life to just the essential ones. Learn to say no to the rest — and slowly get out of commitments that aren’t beneficial to you. Schedule only a few important things each day, and put space between them. Get out of meetings when they aren’t absolutely essential. Leave room for down time and fun.
Keep Calm.
What do you enjoy that calms you down? For many people, it can be the “get moving” activity discussed above. But it could also be taking a nap, or a bath, or reading. Other people are calmed by housework or gardening. Some people like to meditate, pray or take a nature walk. Find your calming activity and really try to do it each day.
De-clutter and clean.
Take 20-30 minutes and just go through a room, getting rid of stuff you don’t use or need anymore. Look around at anything that’s cluttering up a room, and get rid of it or find a better place for it. Find an area of the home and deep clean it - set to a timer. When you're done, you'll have a peaceful, clear environment for work, play, and living.
Choose one small project each morning and each afternoon.
When you make a list of priorities, you can choose the top things to do at the start and close of each day. Then the rest of the day is available for either leisure or maintenance.
Bayes knows you don't need more things to do on your plate, which is why we suggest making things you DO have to do, simple, healthy and enjoyable.  This is the mission behind our organic cleaning products. We keep things real and good because you deserve it!

Over the Counter Cleaning Products or Organic? Does It Matter?

Over the Counter Cleaning Products or Organic? Does It Matter? Why use organic cleaners when the regular stuff works just fine and is cheaper? That's a question we hear so often and one that's so easily answered.

You and your family matter. That's why. The toxins in over the counter cleaning products are damaging not only to our home and surfaces, but also to our skin and respiratory systems. Everything that touches our skin, absorbs into it in varying degrees. Anything oil based absorbs deeper and faster. As a society, we are already bombarded with chemicals that are hard to avoid, such as chlorine in pools, deet in sunscreen and harsh chemicals in commercial hand sanitizers. Of course most of those OTC products have natural alternatives, and we are honored to do our part in providing the natural alternative to toxic home cleaning products.

Thanks to Dr. Mercola, Here is a list of the toxic ingredients found in common cleaning supplies and the side effects they inflict on you and your family, without you even knowing it:

Some of the ingredients in common household cleaners and laundry detergents that can create a toxic indoor environment include:
  • Glycol ethers – Widespread use in paints, perfumes, soaps, cosmetics and foods. Cause fatigue, lethargy, nausea, and possible liver and kidney damage.
  • Phthalates – Cause reproductive harm, endocrine disruption, cancer, organ damage.
  • Perfumes – Cause headaches, sinus problems, asthma, may cause intoxication and "addiction."
  • Phosphates - Manufacturers have reduced eliminated phosphates from laundry products, but no action has ever been taken on dishwasher detergents. Causes widespread environmental damage.
  • Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), a common ingredient in laundry detergents and all-purpose cleaners, is banned in Europe, and known to be a potent endocrine disrupter. It's already thought to be the cause of male fish transforming into females in waterways around the world!
  • Formaldehyde, found in spray and wick deodorizers, is a suspected carcinogen.
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including 1,4-dichlorobenzene – Cause nose and throat irritation, dizziness, asthma.
  • Petroleum solvents in floor cleaners may damage mucous membranes.
  • Butyl cellosolve, found in many all-purpose and window cleaners. May damage your kidneys, bone marrow, liver and nervous system.
  • Ammonia – irritating to the skin, eyes and lungs.
  • Chlorine – irritating to the skin, eyes and lungs.
  • Ethanolamines – irritating to the skin, eyes and lungs.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - skin irritant, eye irritant, potential cancer causer.

That's a lot of potential damage that's easily avoided when you're willing to upgrade to higher and safer quality.  We at Bayes, knew this was a problem and decided to dedicate ourselves to creating and providing solutions.

Our line of cleaning products are non-toxic, organic and safe for every member of your family; even the furry ones.  Additionally, our products are biodegradable, non-abrasive and are never tested on animals.
